Greetings Mike, Annie, Esther and Leanne!
I am trying to plan The Travels of Wendy Weather Bear. I need
your school
schedules for this year so that I can figure out where to send
Wendy first.
Please send me your start and end dates as well as breaks, holidays,
etc.
I think I have a school in Africa, one in Argentina and one in
Canada who
will be joining our project this year. Things are looking good.
And thank
the children for the suggestion of sending a relative of Wally's
this year.
That's where Wendy came from.
Hope to hear from you very soon. The sooner I get the schedules,
the
sooner Wendy can begin her travels.
Your friend,
Brenda

P.S. Still working on the webpage. Lost everything twice. Still
trying
though. I will succeed eventually.

Greetings Mike, Annie, Esther and the children of Frobel!
I hope things there are improving for you. I hated to hear about
the
typhoon and flooding that hit Frobel. I found not been able to
contact
Leanne Sampey even with Christina's help. So I have picked up
a new school
in Australia. I also have a school in South Africa, Argentina
and Canada.
It looks like Wendy will have a very busy schedule. As soon as
you can
find a minute, I need to know your schedule for this school year--start
date, end date, holidays, and breaks. I can not finalize Wendy's
travel
plans without this information from you.
Hope to hear good news from you soon.

Brenda

I originally sent this message out on Oct. 7 but I believe that
something
must have happened to prevent any of you from receiving it. Only
Marilyn
from South Africa has replied. Mail there often takes 3 and 1/2
weeks to
travel so we may need to shorten the time in Argentina and Canada
just a
little so that Wendy could leave for South Africa before Christmas
and make
good use of all of those days that none of our children are in
school.
Thanks for everything. Write back soon.

Brenda

Greetings to all!
I am sending a letter from my class to yours. The children worked
hard on
this letter and hopefully will improve with each letter that follows.
Please share this letter with your children.
Hi from Lakeside Elementary,
Do you have Thanksgiving? Do you do calendar at school? Do you
have
ABCs?
We have calendar. We have Thanksgiving. We have computers. We
have good
teachers. Our weather has been turning colder. Winter is coming.
What is
your weather like now?
Hope to hear from you soon.
Love,
Mrs. Young's Kindergarten class
Thanks for sharing this short letter. Hopefully it is only the
beginning
of the learning experience that is just beginning.
Your friend,
Brenda

Subject: Wendy Weather Bear - Glasbury School.
Date: Mon, 24 Nov 1997 13:20:34 -0000

<wahps@netc.net.au>, <gmr24@Student.open.ac.uk>
Hi all,
Wendy Weather Bear has not yet arrived at Glasbury, our local
post master
tells us any checks have to be done from the place she was posted
from, so
perhaps Brenda?? In her absence I thought I would tell you all
something
about Glasbury and about what is planned for Wendy's visit.
Glasbury is a small rural school, we have a total of only 38 pupils
in the
school, ages 4 to 11. They are in two classes, and it is the Infants
Class
of 17 children that Wendy Weather Bear will be visiting. The children
there
range from 4 up to 7 years of age. The teacher is Miss Lynne Burdon,
who
has just qualified as a teacher last July and this is her first
job in
teaching. Glasbury school is near the main road half-way between
Brecon
and Hereford, ( you should be able to find them on an Atlas.)
It is on the
side of the Wye valley with mountains around reaching 2,000 feet,
which is
high for the United Kingdom.
When Wendy Weather Bear arrives we have our Welsh TV Station,
S4C anxious
to come in and meet her, however the teachers and children will
have to
talk in Welsh for this as this is the Welsh language station.
Welsh is the
language of Wales, but it not widely spoken where we live on the
border but
all children have to learn it, although at home they all speak
English.
Our local newspaper reporter will also come in to meet Wendy Weather
Bear.
( Brenda is it possible for you to send us a couple of pictures
of her
departure from your school for S4C? Possibly as email attachments?)
As
she is late arriving she will probably stay with us only 10 days,
I will
email Judy in Canada direct once she arrives here to sort that
out, during
her time here Lin has arranged a number of things for her with
her class,
the children will write and tell you about them. When it is time
for her
to go most of the class will take her down to the local Post Office,
(the
post master has three children in our school), and see her packed
up
addressed and stamped.
It looks like I will be doing a lot of the emailing, so finally
I'm Martin
Reed, the local Minister, and also a Student teacher at our local
Secondary, 11 to 18 years old, school. If you can help me by including
me
on the copies of your emails at gmr24@Student.open.ac.uk then
if
I'm not planning to be in Glasbury School for a few days I'll
see your
emails and make a point of seeing that they are opened up at the
school.
All the best.
Martin Reed & Lynne Burdon.

Greetings to all!
Wendy left Lakeside Elementary four weeks ago and still has not
arrived in
the UK. I talked with our local post office and they agreed that
she
should have arrived in about 2 to 2 1/2 weeks. They suggested
that she may
be waiting in customs (somewhere) for her turn at inspection.
I am going
to wait until next Tuesday. If she has not arrived by then, I
am going to
see if they can track her exact location since her package was
insured.
If she does reach the UK by next Tuesday, we will all have to
spend a
shorter time with her so that all of us can enjoy her visit. If
this
happens, we will work on her new schedule at that time. If they
are unable
to track her whereabouts, I will see I can get another of her
relatives to
travel in her place. Again, this will cause a change in her schedule
but
at least we can all learn a little from even a short visit. (Christmas
holidays are upon us and that too will slow down any bear's travels.)
I will let you know on Tuesday, where everything stands. I am
so very
sorry about this major delay. We had no problems with Wally's
travels last
year. Until Tuesday, keep your fingers crossed for Wendy to blow
in.
Your friend,
Brenda

Greetings to all!
My kindergarten class in Hurricane, WV, USA would like to send
everyone a
wish for a very Merry Christmas and the Happiest and Healthiest
of New
Years. We hope you enjoy our Christmas card to you. It was designed
by
one of my students, Emily. The class voted her card as the one
most worthy
of being sent from all of us to all of you.
As for Wendy, still no word on her whereabouts. I will be calling
the
local postal service tomorrow, Thursday December 18th to begin
a trace on
her. We will be out of school for the holidays from December 20th
to
January 5th. If you need to reach me for any reason, you may use
my home
address: wolf@newwave.net
Upon my return to school, we will decide where to go with this
project in
Wendy's absence.
Enjoy your holidays!!

Brenda
